Brett was born and raised in Longview, Texas. He graduated from Longview High School in 2001 and moved to Fort Worth to attend Texas Christian University. While at TCU, Brett joined the Kappa Sigma fraternity and was the Director of Finance for TCU’s Programming Council. He was also active in the Student Government Association, serving as a member of the Administrative Cabinet and Finance Committee. Brett graduated from TCU magna cum laude and received a bachelor’s degree in marketing and finance.
Upon graduation, Brett went to work for a bank in Fort Worth as a commercial portfolio manager. He then moved to Dallas and attended law school at Southern Methodist University. In law school, Brett participated in mock trial and negotiation competitions, and was a member of the Moot Court Board. Brett received his law degree, cum laude, in 2008 and joined Gardner Aldrich.
Since joining the firm, Brett has handled numerous lawsuits involving an array of practice areas, including oil and gas, family law, commercial disputes, personal injury, and real estate. Brett is also active in the legal community. He is a member of the Tarrant County Bar Association and Chair of the People’s Law School Committee (2011-2012); a member of the Fort Worth-Tarrant County Young Lawyers Association; an Associate in the Eldon B. Mahon Inn of Court; and a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association. In 2011 and 2012, Brett was named a Texas Rising Star by Texas Monthly's Super Lawyers magazine.
On the weekends, Brett enjoys spending time with his wife and best friend, Laura; their baby girl, Evelyn; and their dog, Henry.
